Tibetan monk-activist and former political prisoner Golog Jigme is visiting Australia this month and we are honoured to host an evening talk/Q&A with him at Kunsang Yeshe Centre.
Remember ‘Leaving Fear Behind’ – a bold film that came out of Tibet in 2008?
The Chinese government imprisoned Golog Jigme for his involvement in the making of this film, documenting ordinary Tibetans’ views about China’s rule in Tibet, in the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics. He was brutally tortured during his imprisonment. After escaping from prison in 2012, he spent almost two years on the run and fled into exile in 2014. Last year he sought political asylum in Switzerland.
This courageous monk hopes to return safely to Tibet one day. In the meantime, he is determined to tell the truth about what is happening in Tibet and bring the aspirations of the Tibetan people to the world stage. He has previously testified in front of the US Congress and the European Parliament.
Join us this Friday for an inspirational & heart-moving glimpse into a people’s struggle for human rights.
