Relying on Dharma

Wed, 16 December, 2020
11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Escarpments Estate (formerly Katoomba Golf Club)

The Buddha gave very extensive and practical advice on how to avoid suffering and live a happier life. It is especially relevant now, so that we can maintain a calm and peaceful mind in today’s rapidly changing situation, for the sake of those around us as well as ourselves. By reflecting together on the feelings that arise as we think, speak and act, we learn to recognise and understand what is helpful and unhelpful.

“The most important thing is practice in daily life… Doctrine is not meant for mere knowledge, but for the improvement of our minds. In order to do that, it must be part of our life.”                     H. H. Dalai Lama

Supporting and encouraging each other through shared experiences has been a much valued aspect of both groups. As you reflect on each session, note your comments, insights or questions for the next one or share them in pOrtal, so that Venerable may draw on them for the next session.

Please note: to encourage sharing the class will now run for an hour and a half, including teaching, a break for discussion over a cuppa, then follow-up with Venerable Paldron.

Venerable PaldronFacilitator: Venerable Paldrön is a senior nun with extensive life experience as well as familiarity with different aspects of Dharma gained over more than 40 years of practice. She is particularly skilled at drawing together traditional Buddhist teachings and everyday experience in a way that makes each class immediately relevant. More…
