This month, the brilliant Corey Jackson will be kicking off this new series 3pm-5pm Saturday 12th with a talk on ‘Contemplative Science’.
The scientific study of contemplative practices is a relatively new field pioneered by visionary researchers. Their study of contemplative practices in order to simply reduce stress or stop smoking through to overcoming depression or PTSD has been of incalculable benefit already. Nonetheless, the field itself has only taken what neuroscientist Richard Davidson describes as “baby steps” toward its full potential to assist in well-being and flourishing.
Join us for a look at the state of the field today, the pitfalls it is facing as it progresses and the stunning potential it has to impact human lives in the future.
Corey left his career as a jazz pianist in Toronto in 2003 to study Buddhist philosophy, meditation and Tibetan language in India. Inspired by the benefits that meditation had on all aspects of his life, he became involved in the Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) in 2011 which perfectly facilitates his passion for using ancient wisdom in a thoroughly modern context.
